WHITTIER : City Will Close Off Street Next to Calcor

Share

The City Council has decided to close a narrow stretch of Hoover Avenue that separates two aerospace buildings.

Traffic on the one-way avenue had posed a hazard for employees of Calcor Space Facility who cross the street when walking between the buildings, spokesman Paul R. Black said. The company also requested the closure between Philadelphia and Bailey streets to increase security at the plants, which produce aircraft parts, Black said.

Calcor, one of the city’s largest employers, began leasing the building on the east side of Hoover in August.

The council’s decision to seal off Hoover “was an accommodation to support them and their expansion within the city,” said Mayor Michael Sullens.
