REGION : 5 Cities Included in Grants for Police Hiring
Federal officials have allocated $450,000 to help five Southeast-area cities hire more law enforcement officers.
Four cities--Lakewood, Lynwood, Norwalk and Cerritos--can use the funds to help pay for more sheriff’s deputies. The Whittier Police Department could hire two more officers.
Eligible departments or cities must hire the new officers and then apply for the funds, officials said.
