THOUSAND OAKS : Plan for Reino Road Section Scaled Back

Share

A stretch of Reino Road in Thousand Oaks will be downgraded to two lanes from the planned four, the City Council has decided.

The city’s General Plan had called for Reino Road to be a four-lane road along its entire length from Kimber Drive to Portrero Road.

But a reduction in the number of homes planned for the Newbury Park area caused officials to reconsider the plan.

Several development changes led officials to lower estimates on the amount of traffic expected to flow through the neighborhood. One project planned for the area became Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa Park, part of Broome Ranch was purchased as open space, and density figures for the Dos Vientos development dropped.

Because of unsettled litigation over the proposed Cohan development along Reino Road, officials decided to downgrade part of the street pending outcome of the legal action. The designation will be changed only along a stretch from Portrero Road to Maurice Drive, a proposed street in the Cohan development.

The vote at Tuesday’s council meeting was 4 to 0.
