LOS ANGELES : SuperLotto Will Get New Bonus 7 Feature

The California Lottery on Thursday announced a new Bonus 7 feature to its SuperLotto game, with cash prizes of $200,000.

“Bonus 7 allows us to give our customers what they want,” lottery spokeswoman Jeanne Winnick said.

The new feature, which will begin this spring, bridges the gap between the multimillion-dollar jackpot and the next prize level of roughly $1,500, which a player receives for matching five of six numbers.

With each five-play SuperLotto purchase, a Bonus 7 play of seven Quick Pick numbers automatically will be printed on the ticket, in addition to the player’s purchased SuperLotto plays.

If any six of the seven Bonus 7 numbers match the six numbers in the regular SuperLotto draw, the player wins the $200,000 Bonus 7 prize. Unlike the jackpot prize, if there is more than one winning ticket, the cash prize will not be divided. Each winner will receive $200,000 in cash.

Lottery officials estimate that with standard-size jackpots there could be 40 to 50 winners of $200,000 a year.
