State Sen. Charles M. Calderon (D-Whittier) has been fined $15,000, in part for using campaign funds to pay for modeling photos of his wife, a tennis outfit and an entertainer for his son’s birthday party.

The Fair Political Practices Commission on Thursday said Calderon violated a ban against using campaign money for personal purposes and improperly reported more than $32,400 in campaign expenditures.

In other action, the FPPC fined:

* Bell Cab Co. $45,000 for getting around campaign contribution limits by making donations to members of the Los Angeles City Council through its employees.
