2 Men Killed in Separate Shootings

Two men were shot and killed in unrelated attacks less than seven hours apart Friday night and Saturday morning, police said.

In Santa Ana, a 27-year-old man was chased down and shot to death in front of an apartment complex early Saturday morning, police said.

A group of gunmen fatally shot Gustavo Ramirez, a Santa Ana resident, several times with a “large-caliber” rifle in the 2500 block of West McFadden Avenue, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Dan Carr said.

A security guard flagged down police officers, who found Ramirez on the sidewalk, dead from several gunshot wounds about 1 a.m., Carr said.

Police said the gunmen were gang members, but Ramirez was not. They have no suspects or a motive for the shooting.

On Friday evening, a 44-year-old Anaheim man was killed near his room at the Golden Forest Motel, 1050 W. Katella Ave., in Anaheim, police said. Jesus Hernandez was summoned from his room by an unknown person and shot in the face, Anaheim Police Sgt. Steve Rodig said. Hernandez died at the scene, police said.

Police said they have identified a possible suspect but have no motive for the slaying.
