Washington Post Co. Sells Most of Phone License Stake: Roughly one month after gaining a controversial price break on the new license, the company said it has sold almost all of its 70% stake in the affiliate that holds the license. American Personal Communications Inc. and two other companies were beneficiaries of a provision that reduced the money they were to pay for licenses allowing them to provide more mobile and less expensive service than existing cellular systems. The price break, which critics have said would shave off millions of dollars in payments to the government, was not enough to persuade the Post to keep its full investment in APC, company officials said.
