Super Bowl Advertising Sets Record: Advertisers are paying ABC an average of $1 million for a 30-second spot on the Jan. 29 broadcast of the National Football League championship game. Last year, NBC got an average of $900,000 for 30 seconds. Media buyers said the price went up because mega-sports events have been scarce, with no Olympics or World Series. As of Tuesday, ABC had sold 58 of its 60 commercial spaces for the game.
