VOLUNTEER AID

* To offer assistance or if you need help yourself with filling sandbags or other emergency aid around your residence or property, call (213) 847-3125.

SANDBAGS

* Some fire stations in the city of Los Angeles are distributing free sandbags. The Department of Public Works can also refer residents to local fire stations for sandbags. Call (818) 458-HELP or (818) 458-6332, (818) 458-6333, (818) 458-6334 or (818) 458-6335. For more than 25 sandbags, call (818) 458-4310. Or call the Los Angeles County Fire Department at (213) 881-2411.

FLOODING, TRAFFIC

* For information on road closures, call (800) 427-ROAD.

* To report catch basin overflows or street drains plugged with debris, call the Los Angeles Department of Public Works at (818) 458-HELP. Emergency officials have asked residents not to call 911 to report mudslides unless someone is trapped or hurt.

* To report mudslides blocking city streets call (213) 847-7353. To report trees down or removal of street debris, (213) 485-5661.

* To report malfunctioning traffic signals on city streets, call (818) 756-9418

* Southern California Edison--Call the number listed on your bill.

* Pacific Bell-Call 611 * GTE-Phone service for those displaced by the storm: Residences-(800) 483-4000 (English); (800) 483-7724 (Spanish). Businesses-(800) 483-5000. GTE will transfer service to the customer’s new location or connect remote call- forwarding at no charge. For other phone trouble, call 611. Once a report i made, GTE requests that you do not call again.

* Los Angeles Unified- Watch KLCS, Channel 58, the district’s educational channel or call (213) 625-4000 (English) or (213) 625-4643 (Spanish).

Santa Monica- Malibu Unified- These schools are closed today: Cabrillo Elementary School, Malibu Colin McKewen School, Malibu Malibu High School, Malibu Webster Elementary School, Malibu Lynwood Unified-All 12 schools in the district are closed today.

* The American Red Cross and the Salvation Army have opened shelters for flood victims in Southern California. All of the Salvation Army community centers in Southern California are open. The Salvation Army can be reached at (800) 725-9005 or call the local Salvation Army facility.
