THOUSAND OAKS : School Trustees Back No-Smoking Policy
Thousand Oaks school trustees unanimously supported a proposal to ban smoking at the district’s school sites and will vote on the matter later this month.
If the measure is approved, smoking would be prohibited on Conejo Valley Unified School District property, including all school buildings, vehicles, parking lots and athletic fields. The ban would take effect March 1.
State and federal law requires that school districts adopt tobacco-free policies by July 1 to receive funding for programs that teach students about the dangers of smoking.
Simi Valley Unified recently approved such a ban, which will go into effect March 1.
