Chris Glass scored 21 points and Cory Johnson added 17 as eighth-ranked Los Alamitos held off a late Edison charge for a 65-58 victory in a Sunset League game Friday night at Edison.

Edison (10-9, 0-3 in league) played itself into early trouble, missing 10 uncontested layups and making only six of 25 field-goal attempts in the first half.

Despite the Chargers’ cold shooting, Los Alamitos held only an 11-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, thanks to Glass’ eight points.

But it was Johnson who propelled the Griffins (15-4, 3-0) to a 32-17 halftime lead, making three three-point baskets on his way to 16 points in the second quarter.

The Chargers opened the second half the same way they did the first, by missing two uncontested layups. However, seniors Ryan Langdon and Brad Lisotto scored nine and eight points, respectively, as Edison closed to within 43-39 at the end of the third quarter.

Sean Kurz brought Edison to within one, 43-42, with a layup and free throw with 7:32 left to play. But Los Alamitos pushed the lead back to eight, 52-44, as Ali Ton drove the lane twice for uncontested baskets.

Edison could get no closer than five, 52-47, when Lisotto hit a three-pointer with five minutes to play.

Los Alamitos kept Edison at bay with free throws, making 13 of 18.

Lisotto finished with 16 points for the Chargers; Langdon and Kurz each had 12.
