Coopers & Lybrand Cluster Gets New Managing Partner

G. Steve Hamm has been named managing partner for the Los Angeles cluster of Coopers & Lybrand. The group includes offices in Los Angeles, San Diego, Newport Beach, Sherman Oaks, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Anchorage. Hamm will be based in Los Angeles. Previously he served in the firm’s Los Angeles office as partner in charge of entrepreneurial services and the financial advisory services group.

Peter Gaughn has been named president and chief executive of PIP Printing, an Agoura Hills-based printing franchise chain. For the past five years, Gaughn, 39, has served as president of Business Cards Tomorrow, a Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based franchise which sells business cards and wholesale thermography. Prior to that, Gaughn worked for PIP in the firm’s operations department.

The U.S. Small Business Administration has selected Viola Irene Canales, a former Los Angeles civil service commissioner, as regional administrator for the SBA’s Region IX, which encompasses California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii and Guam. Canales, 37, most recently was an attorney with O’Melveny & Myers in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Michael Gruener has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president and chief operating officer of Lorber Industries of California. Lorber is a Gardena-based textile manufacturing company.
