Ballet Pacifica is searching for a building in Irvine to house a ballet conservatory the troupe hopes to open this spring. Plans call for the conservatory to occupy 12,000 to 13,000 square feet, roughly triple the amount of studio space the company now has, says artistic director Molly Lynch. At least $150,000 will be needed for move-in costs, which will be covered by donations and an insurance settlement the troupe received after the 1993 Laguna Beach fire destroyed its warehouse. Lynch said the move will mean the troupe will abandon its home of 33 years in Laguna Beach, where it was founded, but that the troupe’s performances at Laguna’s Festival Forum Theatre will continue.
