Ventura County supervisors Tuesday nominated three local elected officials as candidates for regional representative on the California Coastal Commission.

The Board of Supervisors nominated Ventura Councilwoman Rosa Lee Measures, Port Hueneme Mayor Toni Young and Moorpark Mayor Paul Lawrason.

The names will be submitted to Gov. Pete Wilson, who is seeking to fill a vacancy left by former Port Hueneme Councilman Dorill Wright, a 16-year veteran of the commission.

The regional representative serves a two-year term and represents the coastal counties of Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo.

The 12-member commission is responsible for regulating development along the state’s 1,100-mile-long coastline.

Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo county officials will also be able to nominate their own candidates for the job.

Wilson is expected to make his appointment to the commission in March.
