LA HABRA : School Board Presses County for Fund Return

Share

The La Habra City School District passed a resolution this week urging the county Board of Supervisors to refund money the district invested in the failed Orange County pool.

Supt. Richard A. Hermann said the district must get back all of its $13-million investment in order to buy portable classrooms for expected student growth in the next school year.

In addition, Hermann said, funds are needed to expand Las Lomas Elementary School. The project, supposed to start last month, was put on hold after the county declared bankruptcy.

The $1.5-million project has to begin before the new school year because new homes are being developed in the Las Lomas attendance area and more classrooms must be added, he said.

The resolution urges supervisors to oppose any plan that does not provide for 100% repayment of all funds invested by all participants in the county pool.
