SIMI VALLEY : Accident Knocks Out Power to Area
A two-square-mile area in Simi Valley was without electricity for seven hours early Monday after a car hit a power pole, authorities said.
The vehicle knocked down an electrical pole at Madera Road near Royal Avenue at 1:30 a.m. It took Southern California Edison until 8:45 a.m. to restore electricity to the area, police said.
In addition, only one of the four lanes of Madera Road remained open while the pole was being repaired, authorities said.
The motorist, who was not identified by police, suffered minor injuries. He was taken to Simi Valley Hospital, where he was treated and released, authorities said.
An investigation is continuing.
