UAL Inc. Extends Frequent-Flier Changes: In response to the many calls to its reservation desks and long lines at ticket counters, United Airlines announced that it will give frequent-flier members 10 more days to redeem Mileage Plus points before they depreciate. Faced with a rush by members seeking to book free seats before the Feb. 1 deadline, United pushed back the deadline to make reservations or purchase tickets to midnight Feb. 10. More than a year ago, United and other major airlines announced that they would raise the minimum number of miles required to earn a free domestic coach class ticket--the most popular of frequent-flier awards--to 25,000 from 20,000 miles.
