NAACP Threatens Boycott of Dr Pepper: The civil rights organization said it wants the company to put blacks in senior management positions. Leaders of the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People asked Dallas-based Dr Pepper/Seven-Up Cos. to schedule a meeting on the issue. If an agreement to address the complaints is not reached by Feb. 17, the national NAACP board will be asked to urge blacks not to buy Dr Pepper and other soft drinks produced by the company, the group said. Shannon Reeves, the NAACP’s Southwest regional director, said 22% of Dr Pepper’s consumer base is black but that the group has been unable to identify any black vice presidents, corporate officers, bottling plant owners, distributors, department heads or human resources personnel.
