Western Digital Corp. Names Cornelius Vice President for Law

* Michael A. Cornelius has been appointed vice president for law at Western Digital Corp. He succeeds Robert L. Erickson, who has retired after 10 years as chief legal officer. Before joining the Irvine computer products company, Cornelius spent 19 years with Nissan Motor Co. in senior legal and public affairs positions. Most recently, he was vice president for corporate affairs and vice president for legal and public affairs at Nissan North America, the holding company for Nissan’s North American operations. Before that, Cornelius was a partner at Stephens, Jones, Lafever & Smith.

* Michael F. Korns has been appointed chief technology officer for StarBase Corp., an Irvine software development company. Before joining StarBase, Korns provided design and consulting services to Sun Microsystems. Before that, he was vice president and chief scientist at Objective Software Inc. and vice president and chief scientist for Xerox Imaging Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Xerox Corp.

* Edward P. Barry Jr. has been appointed vice president of Integrated Inertial Navigation Systems-Global Positioning Systems for Rockwell Defense Electronics in Anaheim. Barry recently retired from the U.S. Air Force as lieutenant general and commander of the Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base.

* Carol Carroll has been installed as the 1995 president and head of the board of directors of the Sales & Marketing Council of Southern California, the marketing education arm of the Building Industry Assn. of Southern California. She is vice president of marketing for Warmington Homes in Costa Mesa.

* Mack Queen has been appointed vice president of manufacturing for Mitsubishi Consumer Electronics America Inc. He will be responsible for all manufacturing, personnel and administration activities at the Santa Ana projection television manufacturing facility. Queen was previously vice president and general manager for a division of TRW Inc. in Houston.

* Mission Energy Co., an Irvine developer and operator of independent power production facilities, said it has added new division responsibilities to positions held by three of its senior officers. Robert M. Edgell, executive vice president, has been appointed president of Mission Energy-Asia Pacific. S. Daniel Melita, senior vice president, has been named president of Mission Energy-Europe, Central Asia and Africa, and Robert Dietch, senior vice president, has been appointed president of Mission Energy-Americas. In addition, James C. Henneforth has been appointed vice president and chief technical officer of Mission Energy’s worldwide operations. Henneforth was formerly vice president and general manager of Mission Energy-Europe.

* A. Martin Morgenstern has joined PM Realty Group in Newport Beach as president of investment services. He was previously senior vice president and regional manager of investment properties for CB Commercial in Los Angeles. Morgenstern also spent three years as co-managing officer and director of capital markets for Cushman Realty Corp. in Newport Beach.

* Daniel M. Livingston has joined the Irvine law firm of Payne & Fears as a partner. He will specialize in business, real estate and construction litigation. Livingston was formerly a shareholder of Call, Clayton & Jensen for six years and before that was an associate with O’Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles.

* M. Richard Cutler and Roger A. Brown have joined the board of directors of Brian Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Laguna Hills. Cutler is a founding partner of the law firm of Horwitz, Cutler & Bean, where he practices in the areas of securities and general business. Brown is head of his own accounting firm in Pasadena.

* Scott A. Reinert has been appointed vice president for asset management at Irvine Apartment Communities, an Irvine Ranch apartment developer. Reinert joined the company from GFS-Northstar in Atlanta, where he served as chief operating officer for the property management firm’s eastern U.S. portfolio. He also held positions with Equitec Properties Co. and Neal & Neal Management in Florida.

* Paul Viviano has been named senior vice president and chief operating officer of St. Joseph Health System in Orange. He will be responsible for hospital operations and health services in all regions of the system. In addition, Charley Trimble was appointed regional president and chief executive for all West Texas operations. He will continue as president and chief executive of St. Mary of the Plains Hospital.

* Steve Miller has been appointed U.S. controller for Ingram Micro Inc., a Santa Ana wholesale distributor of microcomputer products. Miller joined Ingram Micro in 1992 as U.S. assistant controller and director and was promoted to senior director. He was previously with Coopers & Lybrand for seven years. In addition, Larry R. Sullens was promoted to senior director of customer service and will oversee the customer service departments in Buffalo and Santa Ana. He had been director of customer service before his promotion.
