Helen Haukness’ excellent “By Ship Along Norway’s Arctic Coast,” (Jan. 15) brought back memories. I traveled aboard the Kong Olav in the fall of 1968 when the full 12-day cruise from Bergen was $150, meals included. We encountered rough seas--which rarely occur during the summer--only in the open ocean above Tromso, and then only for a few hours at most. The fishing was prolific, and the chef would prepare your catch for you for dinner.
