THOUSAND OAKS : City Weighs Date for Quake Relief

Share

After extending deadlines for the Thousand Oaks earthquake-assistance program twice already, the City Council will consider today whether to tell residents they must ask for relief before Feb. 28.

More than 250 residents have requested aid in making structural and cosmetic repairs to their earthquake-rocked homes.

The city has about $1.5 million in federal grants and loans to give to residents whose homes were damaged in last year’s quake.

City Housing Services Manager Olav Hassel is recommending that the city establish a final deadline for applications. Otherwise, he said, the city may not have enough money to help the people who applied by the previous deadlines of Oct. 16 and 31, 1994.
