Raider running back Harvey Williams was charged Thursday with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor battery after an alleged confrontation with his ex-wife.

Williams, formerly with the Kansas City Chiefs, was jailed Wednesday night after his former wife, Lorie Williams, told police he had beaten and threatened her with a knife in her Overland Park home.

Williams, 27, appeared Thursday in Johnson County District Court and was released on $3,500 bond.

Lorie Williams refused medical treatment after her ex-husband was arrested, police said.

Police Sgt. Dan Minteer said the two gave different versions of the incident. He would not say why Williams was at his ex-wife’s house or what the two argued about.

Williams filed for divorce from Lorie Williams in September and the divorce was granted earlier this month.

The investigation into the incident is continuing, Police Capt. Jeffery Dysart said.

During his court appearance Thursday, Williams was ordered not to have contact with any witnesses in the case. District Judge Peter Ruddick granted an exception so Williams could see a woman described as Williams’ girlfriend.
