LOS ANGELES : Man Gets 90 Days for Beating His Grandfather

A Crenshaw district man who beat his 69-year-old grandfather with the grandfather’s walking stick will serve a 90-day jail term.

Larry Darnell Dotson, 28, was sentenced by Los Angeles Municipal Judge Gregory Alarcon on Thursday after being found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon and battery.

Dotson was arrested July 9 after a neighbor called to report the attack. The victim, who needed the stick to walk, was sitting in a chair at the back of the house he shared with the defendant when Dotson walked up, snatched away the stick and broke it over the grandfather’s head, prosecutors said. The victim was treated for a gash on his forehead, but he refused further help and refused to testify against his grandson, the district attorney’s office said.
