Olympian Kim Zmeskal and her coach, Bela Karolyi, will appear with some of the top college gymnasts in the country at 7 tonight at the UCLA/Gilda Marx Invitational at Pauley Pavilion.
Zmeskal, 19, and Karolyi retired after the 1992 Olympics, but both have come out of retirement in Zmeskal’s quest to make the 1996 Olympic team. She will perform and speak to the crowd during the collegiate competition, which includes women’s teams from UCLA, Arizona State, Cal State Fullerton and California and men’s teams from Brigham Young, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA and Arizona State. A UCLA alumni team, which includes Olympian Scott Keswick, will also compete.
Zmeskal and Karolyi will also hold a clinic from 2-4 p.m. for school-aged boys and girls in Pauley Pavilion.
