SIMI VALLEY : Wounded Man, 42, in Critical Condition
A 42-year-old Simi Valley man remained in critical condition Sunday after being shot by police during a family dispute over the weekend, officials at Simi Valley Hospital said.
Wesley Simpson suffered a single shotgun wound to the abdomen about 8 p.m. Saturday--minutes after his 20-year-old daughter called police to report the argument, police said.
When officers arrived at the home in the 1400 block of Mellow Lane, an apparently intoxicated Simpson confronted the officers with a rifle, investigators said.
Simpson raised the weapon and Officer Jeff McGreevy fired a single round, striking Simpson in the stomach, according to police.
No one else was injured during the incident. The case is under investigation.
