Ventura College has established the Small Business Academy, an eight-week series of courses designed to help businesses with 10 or fewer employees. The program, which starts Thursday, is a joint effort of the college’s Community Services and Economic and Community Development units. It is designed to help participants develop, manage and expand their businesses.
Franceen Fallet, a consultant in human resource management and training, has been named curriculum director of the program. All sessions will be taught by Ventura College faculty members and local business professionals.
Subjects will include developing a plan or mission statement, organizing a business, selling a service or product, gaining repeat business and referrals and financing a business.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of each session.
Classes will be held Thursday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost is $195 for individuals and $180 each for members of groups from the same business. Details: (805) 654-6459.
