If you’re single and you love food, here’s some good news. On Friday, the California Coast and Valleys chapter of The Single Gourmet Dining Club will hold its formal ribbon-cutting party at the Westlake Hyatt.

“Fantasy Casino” night, beginning at 8 p.m., will include appetizers, dessert, music, dancing and Vegas-style gaming (with play money, of course). Cost is $50 in advance, $68 at the door, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Thousand Oaks Library Fund. Call (818) 884-3219.

This new chapter of the international singles dining club will travel from Calabasas to Santa Barbara for good eating and meeting. “We eat at all the nicest restaurants,” said Kandis Swimmer, chapter president/owner. “I’m contracting with Boccaccio’s Restaurant (in Westlake Village). In April we’ll be going to Le Rendezvous in Newbury Park.”

The membership consists of singles from their late 20s on up. “I seat them male, female, male, female, by age group. . . . Then I make them change seats at dessert,” said Swimmer. “When you are sitting, having dinner with people, the barriers come down comfortably.” Membership is $99 annually, plus the cost of each event.

After 16 years in business, Eunice Koch closed her Ventura coffee bean and accessory shop, Voila, at the end of last year. But before doing so, she selected nearby Cafe Scoop to carry on her name and her products.

“She picked us over a half dozen other coffeehouses,” said Grant Webster who, with his wife Monique, owns what is now Cafe Scoop-Voila.

In preparation for the new stock, Webster added 100 square feet to his 11-month-old cafe, rearranged the seating and added a display case and some shelves. In addition to the Voila products, Cafe Scoop serves soups, sandwiches, baked goods, espressos and other food and drinks. The cafe is at 2170 E. Main St.

Operators of the Los Robles Inn restaurant in Thousand Oaks overhauled their menu last month. Now guests have a selection of barbecue dishes and pasta to go with the traditional steak and seafood. The restaurant also features an all-day menu (not separate ones for lunch and dinner), with prices ranging from $6.95 to $18.95. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekends. Los Robles Inn is at 299 S. Moorpark Road.
