Teledyne Adds 8th Director to Board: The Los Angeles-based company named Diane C. Creel to its board. A Teledyne Inc. spokeswoman said enlarging its board was “not at all related to WHX” and is “unrelated to any proxy issues.” New York-based WHX said it would seek to replace an unspecified number of Teledyne’s seven board members with people willing to sell the company. Teledyne, a maker of industrial, aviation and consumer products, turned down WHX’s offer of $1.2 billion, or $22 a share, in cash and convertible stock. Creel is chairwoman, president and CEO of Earth Tech, a Long Beach environmental engineering firm.
