Oil of Olay Products Recalled: Procter & Gamble Co. said it has voluntarily recalled two skin care products because they cause eye irritation in some people. The company said it stopped selling its Visible Recovery Series Renewal Lotion and Renewal Cream. The company received 572 complaints worldwide about problems with the products, which had been on the market for about a year, spokesman Donald Tassone said. Unlike other Oil of Olay products, the recalled items are based on alpha hydroxy acids, which help remove old cells from the skin’s surface. They are safe for the skin, Procter & Gamble said, but some people apparently used the products too close to their eyes. The company said it added a warning label to packages last fall stating that the products should not be used near the eyes. It said it knows of no serious or lasting eye damage caused by the products. The company said it has set up a toll-free number for consumers who have questions or want a refund on the products. It also said retailers can return inventories of the products.
