Birtcher Medical Systems: The Irvine manufacturer of surgical products reported a net loss of $379,000, or 4 cents a share, in its second quarter, compared with a net loss of $796,000, or 10 cents a share, for the same period last year. Sales for the quarter ended Dec. 31 declined to $7.2 million from $10.1 million. For the first half of fiscal 1995, the company reported a net loss of $1 million, or 11 cents a share, compared with $1.3 million, or 16 cents a share, for the corresponding period a year earlier. Sales were down 29% to $14.3 million from $20.2 million, due to divestitures made earlier in the year.
