A student at John Muir High School in Pasadena was arrested Thursday on suspicion of shooting a man who confronted a group of students on campus, authorities said. Police said the incident was gang-related.

The 15-year-old male student was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after the 10:30 a.m. shooting at the rear of the campus at 1905 Lincoln Ave., Pasadena Police Lt. Gene Gray said.

“The guy has confessed to the whole thing, and we know that it was a gang thing,” Gray said.

The wounded man, Margarita Reynoso, 20, was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital for treatment of a minor shoulder wound.

Reynoso allegedly drove past the group of students and shouted a gang slogan.

“They shouted gang slogans back and he stopped, got out of the car, jumped a fence and confronted them,” Pasadena Police Lt. Alex Uribe said. “There was a scuffle, and one student pulled out a handgun and shot him.”

Two other students were being sought for questioning, Uribe said.
