WOMEN’S BASKETBALL / PACIFIC 10 ROUNDUP : Thompson Helps No. 24 USC Beat Arizona State

Tina Thompson’s 29 points and 17 rebounds led 24th-ranked USC to a 77-65 Pacific 10 Conference victory over Arizona State Thursday night in Tempe, Ariz.

The victory improved the Trojans’ record to 14-6 and 7-5 in the Pac-10. Arizona State (8-13, 2-10) was led by Emma Witkowski with 25 points and Molly Tuter with 23.

USC made 10 of 13 free throws in the second half and stretched its lead to 14 points with six minutes left, then was held scoreless for five minutes.

Michelle Campbell had 10 points and 11 rebounds for USC, and Karleen Shields added 16 points.

Arizona 63, UCLA 61--Atina Harris’ five-foot bank shot with four seconds left helped the Wildcats beat the Bruins in Tucson. Arizona (10-14, 5-7) was led by Adia Barnes’ 22 points and 15 rebounds. Kellie Bennett scored a team-high 18 points for UCLA (8-13, 3-9).
