Canada to Dispatch 500 Peacekeepers to Haiti

OTTAWA —
Canada will send 500 peacekeeping troops to Haiti starting this week as part of a United Nations mission there, the government said Friday.
The troops, part of an expanded U.N. mission in the island, will be deployed for a six-month tour of duty, Canada’s National Defense department said.
