THOUSAND OAKS : Class in Routine Police Tasks Offered
- Share via
Conejo Valley residents will learn to take fingerprints, control traffic, even write up crime reports in a new Volunteers in Policing class that will begin Tuesday.
The program, sponsored by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, is designed to train members of the community to perform many of the routine tasks police officers carry out daily.
The volunteers in the class, which will last until May 2, will help officers by checking on homes while the owners are away on vacation, as well as assisting in fingerprinting, clerical work, Neighborhood Watch programs and limited traffic control.
As part of their training, they will learn basic first aid, CPR, defensive driving tactics, report writing and traffic control.
