‘Woman Warrior’ Scores

Laurie Winer’s review of “The Woman Warrior” (Feb. 17) missed the mark in a number of respects. She missed the humor, she missed the exploration of character--particularly the mother’s and the father’s--and she missed the poignancy of the work they were able to do in America: other people’s laundry, not the running of a dry cleaning establishment.

Far from being tedious, I found it engrossing, theatrical, with the mythical pageantry wonderfully interwoven with the “real,” and touching. The three hours went by all too quickly.
