Business Air Travel Fares Going Up: Less than two weeks after cutting prices for air travel by vacationers, the nation’s major airlines boosted fares used mainly by business travelers. The increases were launched by United Airlines, which said it raised one-way business fares by $10 on 37 nonstop routes from Chicago eastward. Business fares are for tickets generally bought less than seven days in advance. The move by United, the nation’s second-largest airline, was quickly matched by other major carriers. The airlines are struggling to cut costs and boost revenues in a bid to reverse five years of industrywide losses.
