Share

Authorities and volunteers today will continue the search for Philip Taylor Kramer, the Thousand Oaks computer executive and former bass guitarist for the rock band Iron Butterfly who disappeared two weeks ago.

Sheriff’s deputies from Ventura and Los Angeles counties joined volunteers Saturday in the effort. Rescue workers concentrated their search in the western San Fernando Valley area after a report that a man matching Kramer’s description was seen at a fast-food restaurant near Saticoy Street and Winnetka Avenue near Canoga Park.

An aerial search in the Santa Monica Mountains has been hampered by fog and clouds since the middle of last week,, said Dan Shields, a family friend.

Kramer, 42, disappeared Feb. 12 after making several frantic cellular telephone calls to family and friends while returning home from Los Angeles. Kramer is 6 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes and was wearing a white dress shirt and blue jeans when last seen.

Volunteers are needed to help out in the search. They are being asked to meet at 7 a.m. at a parking lot at 299 W. Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks, with water and sun protection and wearing hiking clothes. Volunteers are asked to bring cellular phones and binoculars if available.

Anyone with information concerning Kramer is asked to call (800) 359-0237 or the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department at 494-8200.
