New York Newsday, AP Win Reporting Prizes

A team from New York Newsday and Mark Fritz, a national writer for the Associated Press, have won $10,000 Jesse Laventhol Prizes for Deadline News Reporting from the American Society of Newspaper Editors.

Newsday’s team of 29 reporters, directed by city editor Deborah Henley, was praised for its stories about the city’s Dec. 22 subway bombing. Fritz was lauded for his deadline reporting from Rwanda.
