3D Systems Corp., a Valencia developer of systems that make parts and prototypes, said its earnings in the fourth quarter that ended Dec. 31 were $950,549, down 34% from $1.45 million in the same period the year before. Revenues for the quarter were up 42% to $12.26 million from $8.63 million in the year-earlier period.

But earnings for the full year soared to $3.02 million from $530,717 the year before. The surge was on revenue of $43.3 million, up 39% from $31.08 million a year ago.

The company attributed the year-end results to increased popularity of rapidly constructed prototypes for use in engineering and manufacturing goods. The company also said earnings in the fourth quarter of 1993 included a one-time accumulated currency exchange gain of $500,000 from the closure of a Japanese subsidiary.
