Facility Wins Excellence Award

The Lakeview Senior Center and Irvine Health Foundation Adult Day Health Care facility has been selected to receive the annual Award of Excellence from the California Park and Recreation Society. The award will be presented in the “facility design-special purpose” category.

The award will be presented to city officials Saturday at the annual California and Pacific Southwest Recreation and Park Conference.

Spring Dinner and Dance Planned

The Leisure World American Legion Post 327 and Auxiliary is planning a spring dinner and dance for March 15, in the El Dorado Clubhouse 2 at the retirement community.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with an open bar, followed by dinner served at 6:30.

‘55 Alive’ Drivers Class to Be Offered

The “55 Alive” drivers class sponsored by the American Assn. of Retired Persons will be offered at the Brea Senior Center. The course is designed for older people who want to update driving skills and knowledge.

Sessions are scheduled for 12:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 9 and 10.

The fee is $8, and advance registration is required. The center is at 500 S. Sievers St.

Exercise Class for Those With Arthritis

A new exercise class for people with arthritis will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Fridays at the Cypress Senior Citizens Center. Those in wheelchairs are welcome to attend.

Income Tax Form Assistance Provided

Free assistance preparing income tax forms is being provided to senior citizens and low-income families through March at the Los Alamitos Community Center.

Appointments can be arranged by calling: (310) 430-1073.

Skin Care Seminar Set for March 8

Skin care concerns of seniors will be addressed at a free seminar offered by HealthNet and the Yorba Park Medical Group.

The seminar is scheduled for 10 a.m. March 8 at the Yorba Park Medical Building, 2501 E. Chapman Ave.
