Hazardous Waste Disposal Dates Set

Share

The Los Angeles sanitation bureau’s Hazmobile will make several stops in the San Fernando Valley in the next few months so that residents can dispose of hazardous household materials safely and for free.

Waste materials such as unwanted paint, motor oil, pesticides, cleaners and other common household chemicals labeled toxic, corrosive, flammable, irritant or poison can be dropped off at the Hazmobile, city officials said.

Residents must make an appointment to drop off their waste by calling the Household Hazardous Waste Hotline at (800) 98-TOXIC.

The Hazmobile will be in Canoga Park, Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Van Nuys, April 13 through 15, April 20 through 22, and Chatsworth, April 27 through 29, May 4 through 6.

Los Angeles County also is holding a hazardous material roundup in Glendale on March 11 at the Steam Plant, 800 Air Way. No appointment is necessary.

Jackie David, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation, Recycling and Waste Reduction, recommended that wastes brought to any of these sites should be transported in a cardboard box to prevent spillage and mixing.
