Simple Green to Include Warnings on Labels as Part of Settlement

Share

The maker of Simple Green all-purpose cleaner is changing the product’s label as part of a settlement ending litigation brought against the company last year by district attorneys of three Northern California counties.

The label will warn consumers not to pour rinse water into storm drains or open waterways. Though Simple Green is nontoxic, substances it removes from items such as engines are not, said Joleigh Ernst, spokeswoman for parent company Sun Makers Inc.

Ernst said the company, based in Huntington Harbour, is pleased about making the change because the new labeling helps to implement the company’s main concern: protecting the environment. “We don’t think the settlement is an imposition at all,” Ernst said.
