Canada to Reduce Number of Generals by 25%

OTTAWA —
Canada’s government said Thursday that it will reduce the number of generals by 25% in three years, the latest blow to a military already reeling from scandals, base closures and low morale.
Defense Minister David M. Collenette said the number of generals will be cut to 70 from 93 and colonels, the rank below general, to 245 from 295 over two years.
