Griffith New Top Officer at Simi’s Tandberg Data

Tandberg Data of Simi Valley has named David L. Griffith president and chief executive officer. The 38-employee, Norwegian-owned company has 82% of the world market for high-capacity backup computer drives on quarter-inch tape, according to marketing manager Kathryn Lodato.

Griffith, 38, was promoted from vice president of sales and marketing and replaced Per Otto Dyb, who left the $40-million-a-year firm six months ago for another company in Norway. Griffith has been with the company for four years. Tandberg Data is wholly owned by Tandberg Data T/S of Oslo.
