Celebrities live in a whole other world, a weird, isolated one, than we do. A case in point from Jerry Seinfeld, quoted in New York magazine:

“Los Angeles is no place to live,” he continues. “It’s a nice place to work, because the city has no distraction. Being in L.A. on the weekend is like being in an office building on a weekend. Just look around and go, ‘Where is everybody?’ (. . .) Where are the people? We were all in traffic yesterday. Where are they today? (. . .)

“As a comedian, I believe you get less and less funny living in L.A. There’s less particle flow. You’re not hit with as many objects, images, sensations, you know. . . . New York is like a pie in the face every day.”
