Semiconductor Bookings, Billings Set Records: According to the Semiconductor Industry Assn., bookings in February were $3.70 billion--$1.13 billion higher than the February, 1994, mark of $2.57 billion. February billings were $3.30 billion, $915 million higher than the February, 1994, figure of $2.39 billion. Only once before during the last nine years has the February bookings-billings ratio actually risen (in 1991, from 0.99 to 1.05). A book-to-bill ratio of 1.12 indicates that for every $100 worth of products shipped (billed), manufacturers received $112 of new orders (bookings). The ratio, which reflects sales in North America, totaled $33.5 billion in 1994 and is expected to grow to $37.8 billion by 1996.
