COSTA MESA : Meetings to Focus on New School Calendars

Share

Parents whose children attend public schools in Costa Mesa are invited to attend two meetings next week to discuss a proposed calendar for the 1996-97 year.

The proposed alternative calendar would have the same number of school days, but with a shorter summer break and longer breaks during the holidays and other midyear vacations.

The schedule is already in effect at Wilson Elementary School, but is under consideration for all schools in the Costa Mesa High School attendance zone. That includes Paularino, Killybrooke, College Park and Sonora elementary schools, TeWinkle Middle School and the high school.

Meetings are scheduled at 7 p.m. March 22 and 7 a.m. March 23, in the lyceum at Costa Mesa High School, 2650 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa.

Parents’ and teachers’ surveys will be conducted after the sessions to help determine whether to pursue the schedule for the entire attendance zone.

For information about the schedule or the meetings, call the office of Costa Mesa High Principal Ed Harcharik, (714) 556-3344, or parent Paulette Witt, (714) 662-5955.
