SOUTH COUNTY : Explosions to Be Heard Near Camp Pendleton
Marine officials say that Orange County residents can expect loud noises from Camp Pendleton today during military exercises there that include the detonating of explosives.
The exercises were also held Tuesday between 1 and 9 p.m.
A base spokeswoman said three explosions on Wednesday between 6 a.m. and noon might be heard by people who live as far as 50 miles from the base, which is just south of San Clemente.
The spokeswoman said that the explosions are part of mine-clearing exercises.
