WILMINGTON : Firm Charged With Polluting Storm Drain
The Los Angeles city attorney’s office has filed a charge against manufacturer Eternal Star Corp. for allegedly polluting a storm drain with chemicals.
A company employee hosed an unknown amount of latex adhesive from Eternal Star’s driveway on Mauretania Street into a gutter on June 24, the city said.
Deputy City Atty. Brooke White said the latex had spilled from two damaged 2,000-pound containers.
It was headed for Los Angeles Harbor when county Public Works employees dammed the storm drain and ensured that it was cleaned up, White said.
A corporation representative will be arraigned in Los Angeles Municipal Court on March 30. The charge can bring a $2,000 fine.
