CLAREMONT: A Claremont man was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of cellular phone fraud. Patrick Ray, 24, was arrested at about 9 a.m. at his home in the 600 block of Bonita Avenue. Sheriff’s deputies said 10 cloned cellular phones and a laptop computer containing cloning programs were found.

EL MONTE: An El Monte man was shot and killed Tuesday morning. Jose Figueroa, 25, was standing on a sidewalk in the 11500 block of Forest Grove Street at about 1:45 a.m. when two men in a dark-colored pickup pulled up, sheriff’s deputies said. The driver got out of the truck and fired several rounds from a handgun, striking Figueroa in the upper torso. The gunman then fled the scene in the truck.

INDUSTRY: A Hacienda Heights man died Sunday night after being hit by a train. Brian Chavez, 19, was killed about 9:30 p.m. near Valley Boulevard and Nogales Street, sheriff’s deputies said. Chavez was apparently upset over an argument with his girlfriend, deputies said, and had been darting in front of cars and at least one other train before he was hit.

PASADENA: A Pasadena man was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of shooting at a police officer. Tourmaria Foreman, 22, allegedly fired at a sheriff’s deputy who was pursuing him and other alleged gang members as they fired at each other from cars, deputies said. No one was hurt. Foreman was booked at the Crescenta Valley station on suspicion of shooting at a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon and shooting at an inhabited vehicle.

SAN GABRIEL: A Downey man was shot and killed Monday night. David Shin, 18, was shot about 9:30 p.m. in the 6200 block of Provence Avenue, sheriff’s deputies said. He died 15 minutes later at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center after being taken there by friends. No further information was available.

SAN GABRIEL: The Police Department is offering free home security inspections to city residents. Police will show residents how to secure their homes and make it more difficult for burglars to break in. Interested residents may call (818) 308-2846 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays to make an appointment.

SOUTH EL MONTE: An 18-wheel truck and its trailer containing $1-million worth of blank videocassettes was stolen Sunday night. Two thieves took the truck and its trailer from the 2700 block of Humbert Avenue as the driver stopped to visit his father, sheriff’s deputies said.

SOUTH PASADENA: A 29-year-old Los Angeles woman was robbed at an automated teller machine Sunday afternoon. The victim, whose name was not released, was withdrawing money from a machine in the 1300 block of Fair Oaks Avenue at about 3:40 p.m. when she was approached by a man with a knife. The robber escaped with $400, police said.
